Hello! I'm Jane Van de Ban
I’m an experienced content design lead and negotiator, with years of experience of stakeholder management and strategic thinking.
Over 25 years in the UK public sector, I moved from hands-on content editing and design into leadership, where I led on big projects, while supporting and empowering my teams.
For 20 of those years, I was also a senior union activist and lead negotiator on important changes like restructuring, redundancies, pay, terms and conditions. My ability to negotiate changed people’s lives.
In 2024, I quit my job because I wanted to focus on work that energises and inspires me. I work with content designers, because that's what I know best. And content designers are some of my favourite people.
What I do
I specialise in 3 areas:
Stakeholder training for content designers
Stakeholder management is one of the hardest things we ask content designers to do - but being able to do it can make a massive difference to your ability to do your job.
With this training, I aim to empower content designers to stop asking why it's so hard and start taking charge.
Coaching for content design leads
I've been a content designer for both UK HE and the Civil Service, starting as a web editor/content designer and moving into the leadership space in both contexts.
Public speaking
